Jewellery Care
General Care
When wearing your jewellery, it is best to put your jewellery on last. Leave time for creams, perfume, hairspray, make-up to soak into the skin before applying your jewellery.
Remove your jewellery when showering, cooking, cleaning or swimming. Chemicals and even water will encourage tarnishing on your jewellery.
Where possible store you jewellery out of sunlight, in a dry place. Try to keep them separate so that pieces do not tangle, rub or scratch against each other. It's a good idea to get a jewellery box, if you dont have one already.
Silver Jewellery
Silver jewellery is pretty hard wearing, but does need a little TLC to keep it looking it's best.
Silver can go dull very quickly and change to a dark colour. This is called Oxidisation and can be reduced by regular cleaning.
As well as the general care stated above....
We recommend either polishing your jewellery with a Silver Polishing Cloth (available here) or use a Silver Cleaning solution such as Hagertys or Town Talk.
Once your jewellery has been dipped, rinse your jewellery in warm water to remove the solution and then make sure your jewellery is thoroughly dried before storing.
Gold Vermeil
Gold vermeil, is Sterling Silver jewellery, with a thick gold plating. Have a look at our blog post on this for more information. If well looked after, if will last a lifetime.
With our Gold vermeil pieces it is especially important to follow our general care guide above.
We recommend you gently clean your plated jewellery with a soft lint free polishing cloth. Do not use jewellery liquid cleaning solutions as this will remove the gold layers more quickly over time.
